[SATIRE] Should Recall in Windows 11 include a dictator selector?

With the recent addition of Recall, should there be an option to select which dictator your computer activities should be sent to?

Current Situation

Currently, only the Undisputed Champion of Beautiful Clean Coal and Mossad have access to your digital activities, which is of course highly undesirable. Others like Kim Jong Un and Putin are suspiciously missing from this arrangement. How will they target their opponents now? This present system is extremely biased and leaves people like Putin to rummage through the daily data breaches instead. Obviously, this system of exploitation and bias must end.

Obvious solutions, not so good on closer inspection

The obvious solution is to add the aforementioned dictator selector, but the problem is that most users would stick with the defaults. People would stick with the default "already working" settings rather than change them. Moreover, there are dozens of dictators to be listed, all of which are equally hungry for your data. The dictators at the top of the list would obviously be chosen more than, say, poor Teodoro Nguema Mbasogo at the bottom.

Some ~~brainies~~ smartasses among you might be saying, "Oh! Oh! What if we just don't take screenshots every 5 minutes!". To that I say, "Turn and face the wall".

The Solution!

The ideal solution would be choosing the dictator via random chance. All dictators will have people to target in equal proportion. Include a spinny wheel to allow the peasants to bet on their dictator outcome and you now have a system which:

  • Allows Dictators to obtain data from people, equally!
  • Gives the peasants a spirit of competition, trying to get rarer dictators
  • The peasants can also bet on their dictator being chosen

But wait a second..

But.. Don't you think someone's being ignored here? It's Microsoft. What do they gain from this new arrangements to placate the shareholders for a few months with?

The answer is: dictators now have to pay a moderate fee per person, every year. With around 1 billion users on Windows 11, assuming 92 dictatorships, each dictator will get roughly 10.8 million victims. Most data brokers charge upto $3 for highly personalized data points on a user. Since this is extremely lucrative data, and because its a live feed, let's assume a monthly fee of $6 per user per month. That is a good $32.4 million per month, a boost of 0.0121% to Microsoft earnings!

Conclusion

The initiative of Recall by Microsoft is an amazing step in the right direction, though in its present form, is highly unequal and discriminatory. We have devised a system that placates the customer, feeds the dictators equally and earns Microsoft money to flaunt to investors. A win-win!
